The Advanced Educational Programme is designed for learners who wish to move beyond theory and develop practical competences for the implementation and co-management of Nature-based Solutions (NbS) in real-world contexts.
Through a collection of advanced digital learning resources, the programme explores how NbS can be applied within natural systems, semi-natural systems, and urban environments.
Learners discover how these solutions can improve the sustainability of activities such as forestry, agriculture, livestock farming, ecosystem restoration, urban planning, and green infrastructure management.
The programme also provides a detailed understanding of the ecosystem services generated by NbS and introduces participatory approaches such as Community-Driven Development (CDD), Community-Based Natural Resource Management (CBNRM), and Integrated Conservation and Development Projects (ICDP).
These approaches demonstrate how sustainability challenges can be addressed through cooperation, active citizenship, and shared responsibility.
Particular attention is devoted to the connection between NbS and the labour market. Learners explore emerging professional opportunities linked to sustainability, climate adaptation, ecosystem management, and urban resilience.
They also learn about the funding mechanisms that support the implementation of NbS projects. This makes the programme especially relevant for those interested in developing careers in the growing green economy.
The programme strengthens several Key Competences for Lifelong Learning, including mathematical competence and competence in science, technology, and engineering, digital competence, entrepreneurship competence, and citizenship competence.
Through the analysis of practical cases and implementation strategies, learners develop the ability to identify opportunities, work collaboratively, and contribute actively to sustainable development processes.
Within the GreenComp framework, the programme particularly promotes Adaptability, encouraging learners to analyse local environmental and socio-economic conditions in order to identify appropriate sustainability solutions.
It also promotes Individual Initiative, fostering proactive engagement with public institutions, private organisations, and local communities.
By connecting sustainability knowledge with operational skills and professional opportunities, the programme helps learners become active contributors to a more resilient and sustainable future.
